What a busy few weeks we have had in Year 6! Production rehearsals have been very regular but with great success and we did a full dress rehearsal for KS2 on Friday. We now look forward to performing for the parents on Tuesday!
In amongst all of that, we had a very fun Science lesson all about adaptation. The children chose whether to eat a jelly baby or a piece of liquorice. Why, I hear you ask?! Well, if you think of the swets as insects, who has a better chance of survival? The liquorice of course, as it tastes nastier than the jelly baby so a nasty tasting insect will have a better chance of survival in nature. We then looked at the the history of the peppered moth and how that evolved to cope with the Industrial Revolution and as scientists, we tried to find the camouflaged moths 'hidden' in the classroom!
Aspirations Day last week was great fun - lovely to see the children dressed up and aspiring to be such a variety of prefessions.
The big highlight of the week was the SATs results - as a cohort, Y6 have done brilliantly this year. Individual results will go out in the reports next week.
We have continued to enjoy our swimming, with the all-important water safety session this week. We leaned about reach rescues and throw rescues - essential life skills.
Cross stitch has been a big part of the week too as we improve on skills learned in Year 5 and create our own little cushions!
Finally, we enjoyed the Rock Steady concert on Thursday and it was a joy to see all the bands - they were amazing!! It was particularly fab to see Gytis, Pasha and Daniel from Year 6 and what a great song: Everybody wants to rule the world by Tears for Fears!
Have a great weekend everyone and see you next week for our final full week in Year 6!
